Most people that carry out a search on either Google or one of the other search engines, get to the first page of results that are displayed and never go any further.  This reason more than any should have you trying to achieve page one rankings for your site.  Otherwise you will miss out on huge potential visitors to your site.

You may think it’s difficult to achieve first page rankings, but there are ways to do this.  One way is to pay for Google AdWords which is an advertising service that will feature your website details in the Sponsored Link section of search engine results.  If someone clicks on your site from the sponsored link section then you will pay an amount for each click.  Therefore you will only ever pay if somebody actually clicks on one of your ads.  You do not have to pay just to place your site in the sponsored link section.  You can control how much you pay to Google by setting a daily or monthly limit.  This means that once you have reached that specified amount in clicks, your website details will not feature in the sponsored links again until the next day or month.

SEO is another method by which you can achieve page one rankings in the search results.  You have to “optimize” the information on your site especially for the search engines.  You can do this by adding certain keywords in the appropriate places throughout your site for the search engines to focus on.  Knowing how search engines work will assist you in this task.  SEO services are available that can do this for you should you feel you are not up to the task.  There are many inexpensive services available online, so it’s just a case of searching for them.
